Knowing how to search for and identify Main Jobs and Sub Jobs in reports can save time, prevent errors, and make managing complex tasks much easier. By distinguishing between these two types of jobs, you can quickly see task relationships, track overall progress, and spot potential bottlenecks before they become problems.

Benefits of Distinguishing Main and Sub Job Relationships in Reports

Showing the relationship between Main and Sub Jobs in reports helps managers and teams quickly understand job context, workload, and follow-ups.

  • Clear Job Context - Easily see which tasks are linked and identify follow-ups or rework associated with a Main Job.
  • Track Progress Holistically - View overall completion of a Main Job, including all its Sub Jobs, in one glance.
  • Identify Dependencies and Bottlenecks - Spot delays or recurring issues in complex tasks by seeing Sub Jobs under their Main Job.
  • Simplify Workload Analysis - Allocate resources more effectively when related jobs are grouped, reducing duplicated effort.

How to Search and Find Main and Sub Jobs

  5. Arrange the columns as you like by dragging them. To remove a column, click the “X” icon.
  6. Click Save to save your custom display.
  7. The report will now show your results with the columns you selected.

Note: The Sub Job feature was introduced in May 2025.

  • Jobs created before May 2025 will show blank in the Job Main ID if they are Main Jobs.

  • Jobs created after May 2025 will show their own Job No as the Job Main ID.

Understanding the Results

Sub Job
If a job is a Sub Job, the Job Main ID will be different from the Job No — this shows which Main Job it is linked to.

Example:
Explanation:

Jobs J00122 and J00125 are Sub Jobs because their Job Main ID is different from their Job No.

  • J00122 is linked to Main Job J00121.

  • J00125 is linked to Main Job J00124.

Main Job
If a job is a Main Job (not a sub job), the Job Main ID will be blank or the same as the Job No.

Example:

Explanation:

Jobs J00082 and J00120 are Main Jobs because their Job Main ID is either blank or the same as their Job No.
